In the first months of a child’s life toys are chosen based upon sight and sound qualities. Your little one has yet to learn to grasp objects and is still focusing their sight, but enjoys the having interesting objects to try and focus on. An infant’s vision is only good up to about 14 inches away from their face. This means that toys need to hang within this distance to be able to be seen by your child. Bright colors and contrasts will draw your infant’s attention, because she can easily make these out. Pictures of faces are also a hot on toys of this age group. Soft music is great for children of this age group. One of the best toys for a child this young is a bright colored mobile. The movement and soft music will keep her entertained and will stimulate her mind. An unbreakable mirror that hangs on the side of the crib is also good for the child to learn the human face. Safety at this age pertains to keeping items away from the infant. Soft plush items can easily suffocate an infant so keep them away from her when she is napping.
